Kate Huizinga

Kate Huizinga has served as Director of Choirs for Albany Unified School District in Albany, CA, since 2021. She oversees a vibrant program of six choirs spanning grades 6–12. Under her leadership, the Albany Chamber Singers were invited to perform at the 2025 California All-State Music Education Conference. A strong advocate for music education, Kate holds leadership roles as the Choral Representative for the CMEA, Bay Section board and Coastal Regional Honor Choir Coordinator for CCDA. In 2025 she was honored to receive the CMEA, Bay Section Outstanding Choral Educator Award. Kate holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Michigan State University and resides in the Bay Area with her husband, Sam, and their rescue dog, Pixie.
