Shelby Laird

Shelby Laird is a first-year student in the DMA Choral Conducting program at Michigan State University, where she studies with Drs. Snow, Fox, and Bowen, and serves as Chancel Choir Director at the Presbyterian Church of Okemos. Originally from Kansas, Shelby earned her Bachelor’s degree in Choral Music Education from Northern Arizona University with Dr. Edith Copley. She went on to teach high school choir in Kansas City, Missouri, before pursuing graduate studies. Shelby’s passion for choral music has led her to sing with the Ad Astra Music Festival, Sedona Academy of Chamber Singers, Oregon Bach Festival, and she is currently a soloist for the Bach Chorale of Grand Rapids. Shelby holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Oregon, where she studied with Dr. Sharon J. Paul. Shelby is deeply passionate about the power of choral singing to foster learning, connection, and meaningful community through shared music-making.
